Today, in the second installment, we will talk about "Why a representative of people who are bad at sports (hereafter referred to as me) created a stretching mat."

I'm not a yoga instructor or someone who has a regular workout routine. In fact, I've always worked from home, and I'm not very good at exercise.

However, once I turned 30, I started to experience more and more everyday discomforts. Stiff shoulders, back pain, lack of exercise. 🫨 After years of being busy every day with childbirth, child-rearing, and work, it became a default state for my body to not keep up with my emotions.

Every once in a while, I'll try to diet or do something about my body by getting out my yoga mat and doing some stretches, but it only lasts for three days, and before I know it, I'm curled up in the back of the closet again.

But then one day I suddenly thought.
"Maybe the reason they can't continue is not their personality but their 'environmental design'?"

If it's okay to leave it on the floor and it has a design that can be used as interior décor, I might be able to keep using it.
This was a simple and realistic answer that emerged from my own life.

And based on his experience working for a manufacturer, he was confident that "it should be possible to create a product that could realize this idea."

Furthermore, since his main business was supporting the creation of e-commerce sites, he felt that if he started a brand online, he would be able to give shape to his ideas and deliver them without any physical constraints.

I may not be able to exercise, but I know how to create a product and deliver it online. This combination of my own daily challenges and my past career was the starting point for 8ed Studio.

Working backwards from that, what's needed is a design that blends in with the room even when left on the floor. It's not just stylish, but something that doesn't cause stress even when seen every day.

Environment over will.
Design over enthusiasm.
This idea is at the core of the brand.

(I was also greatly influenced by a business book by Shikigaku's Kodai Ando titled "Systematize It Anyway," which was a best-seller in 2023-2024...📚)

The idea was conceived by an amateur in the field of exercise, but don't worry ⚠️
The factory where it is produced is one of the world's leading environments specializing in wellness items, and the products are carefully crafted by highly skilled staff.

When creating the samples, we asked many experts who actually use yoga and stretching mats for their opinions, and we made repeated improvements to make this product we are confident in.
(All the instructors were unanimous in their praise, saying, "We've never seen a mat like this before! It's thick and stable, and it's great!")

My friends and acquaintances don't really have the image of me doing yoga or exercising, so they often ask me, "It's certainly stylish, but why did you choose this product?" (laughs), so I thought I'd talk about it again today.
I don't know how many episodes it will last, but your comments will encourage me to write again next time ☺️
